camp levels

PLEASE NOTE: It is not required that a player attend Camp 1 in order to attend Camp 2 in each category. These are not progressive camps. They are individual camps and will all be different.

BASIC - these camps are meant for players that have little club playing experience, have played rec ball or who are new players. It is also great for players that may have a year or so of club but want to improve on their basics such as serving and passing. We will do a LOT of touches on both of these skills. We will also have some team play.

INTERMEDIATE - these camps are meant for those that have several years of club and some high school experience as well. These players should know how to serve overhand from behind the endline consistently, understand rotation and transitions. We will spend time on serving, passing, hitting, defenses and setting. PLEASE do not send your child to this camp if your child cannot serve or pass consistently. We will have team play at the end of each session.

ADVANCED - these camps are meant for seasoned players that understand the concepts of the high level game. We will spend very little time on the fundamentals of serving and passing. Players are expected to be able to pass a served ball consistently. We will spend more time on strategies, team play and refining all of the volleyball skills in order to get to a more elite level of play (serving, passing, hitting, blocking, setting and defense). PLEASE do not send your child to this camp if they cannot serve overhand from behind the endline consistently and cannot pass a served ball consistently. We will spend more time on team play and this will be incorporated into each session.

"My daughter started going to Coach Sue’s Camps in 4th grade. She learned so much that summer and continued to attend the different levels for the next 5 years (we have all the shirts to prove it, lol). Coach Sue always adjusts her camps to the level of the players, so each player can grow regardless of what her/his skill was at the beginning of the week. Each player gets to learn and practice all positions during the one week camp including how to rotate. Coach Sue always learns the name of the players by the end of the first day which definitely makes each player feels valued and important. I recommend her camps to anyone who wants to learn the game of volleyball or to grow her skills."

"My daughter started going to Coach Sue’s camps last year, and she had such a great time. Coach Sue adjusts the camps to the level of the players, and I saw each player improve throughout the week! Not only did they improve their skills, but also their confidence. The players are able to practice all positions, which I really liked. Coach Sue took the time to learn everyone’s names and get to know them. We will definitely be back for camp this year!"

"Sue Dillons camps are by far the best in the midlands area, quite possibly the state. My daughters have been going to Sue’s camps for 3 years now and every year they get better. We have experienced many camps, from high school level, club level and even college level. Her camps are the most well run and organized, her drills are challenging and skill level appropriate, her prices are extremely affordable, and her knowledge of the game is unmatched. Hands down there is not a better camp, no matter what the level your player is at, and I highly recommend Sue. I guarantee you your child will walk out of the gym a better player with a better understanding of the game!"

"Coach Sue runs the BEST summer volleyball camps in the area! My daughter attended the intermediate session last summer after a few seasons of rec and one full season of 12u club.

The first thing I noticed was that Coach Sue divides her camps up by experience and skill level not just age. We signed our daughter up for so many spring break and summer camps that claimed to have training for all levels but found most of them were cookie cutter camps. The majority were not worth the money we spent.

Coach Sue is an excellent coach. She’s nurturing but also pushes her players to work hard and develop their skills. She keeps up a fast pace and the kids get a great work out at her camp. My daughter learned how to do a jump serve at Coach Sue’s camp - this was such a confidence booster for her. Learning something new and being challenged took her play to the next level.

I can’t recommend a camp with Coach Sue enough. Whether your child is just starting to play or has had some club experience there’s something for everyone with Coach Sue!"

"My girls have been going to Coach Sue’s camps for several years and they love them. Both of my daughters have gained immeasurable benefit from attending. From learning to dive properly, enhancing their serve technique, learning court awareness, and more, the camp was such a resource for them. The drills are fun and challenging and the team building activities make it a great experience. Coach Sue is knowledgeable and truly dedicated to helping every player grow. She has a way of instilling confidence in my girls like none other. I cannot recommend Coach Sue’s camps enough!"

"My daughter has attended several intermediate and advanced day volleyball camps hosted in the greater Columbia and surrounding areas. Coach Sue's camp is by far the best bang for your buck and my daughter can't wait to return, third year running. Coach Sue is an experienced coach who notices the smallest of details and remarkably improved my player's performance on several skills, just in the duration of last year's camp. I like the way Coach Sue communicates with the players, connects, and corrects. Coach Sue has a love for volleyball that's contagious. I wouldn't hesitate to also attend Coach Sue's camps!"

"My daughter has been attending Coach Sue’s Volleyball Camps for 3 years now and she can’t imagine summer without being a part of these camps!! I absolutely love to stay and watch how much each athlete grows everyday. Coach Sue may not know your athlete when they arrive but she will not only know them by name but also how to help them the best before the end of the first day! You will see first hand how talented, enthusiastic, encouraging, and dynamic this truly professional Coach is. These camps and Coach Sue have been instrumental in my girl’s love and success with all things volleyball!!!"
